Timothy P. Lowney Jr. DO

Dr. Lowney, Jr. is a graduate of both Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and UMass Memorial Family and Community Health residency in Worcester, MA.  His background includes hospital, SNF and home care. Dr. Lowney, Jr. concentrated in community health and sports medicine in his residency and has continued that into his practice.  Currently Dr. Lowney, Jr. holds a position as nursing facility Medical Director and performs home visits as necessary in addition to his outpatient practice.  His scope of practice also includes general medicine, acute and chronic care management, minor surgery, joint injection, skin biopsy, suture laceration, spinal manipulation, and musculoskeletal pain management. As a board certified family physician he can treat pediatric, adults and geriatric patients.

Scope of Practice

Acute and Chronic Medical and Minor Surgical Conditions:

  • Acute upper and lower respiratory disorders.

  • High blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and thyroid disorders.

  • Cardiac and pulmonary chronic disease, EKG, pulmonary function test, and oximetry in office.

  • Skin and nail infection, biopsy or removal of moles or ingrown nails, suture of skin laceration and other minor surgical procedures.

Musculoskeletal Pain Management:

  • Back and joint pain

  • Spinal manipulation

  • Joint injection (Cortisone)

  • Trigger area injection (Chronic Muscle Pain)

  • Pain medication management

 

Annual Physical, Home Care and Transitional Care

Dr. Lowney, Jr. has special interest in the medical management of patients in their home. He had developed and implemented a House Call Program for patients who can’t get into the office; Transitional Care Program, working with local VNA, and SNF to medically manage patient leaving the hospital through a stay at a skilled nursing facility and home (with Doctors and Nurse Practioners going to home) until they are able to return to office care or outpatient services. These unique programs are designed to prevent hospitalization and/or rehospitalization.  Dr. Lowney, Jr. currently serves as medical director of Hellenic Nursing & Rehabilitation in Canton, MA.
